Dear Golden Gate Circle Society Fellow Travelers,

It’s a new year, a new Presidency, and perhaps a new era in global politics and international interdependence. Our Golden Gate Circle Society project to support a translation of The Urantia Book into Croatian has new impetus. My personal desire to see it completed is renewed. Let us each answer the call to reach out to the Muslim Community by offering a book of inspiration and interfaith commitment to peace.

Additionally, since the 2008 International Conference, the divisions between the Urantia Fellowship and the Urantia Foundation have diminished dramatically, opening the door for possible collaborations to complete and publish our Translation.

The translation effort has been known as the Bridge-to-Bridge Project, with the Golden Gate and Mostar Bridges symbolizing connectedness between the members of the Golden Gate Circle Society and Croatian speaking peoples.

Nora Moakher has completed all but 60 papers. Her focused and meticulous approach has resulted in a very high quality translation. Her amazing accomplishment is one that contributors have been proud to support. All that remains is a $30,000 fund-raising effort and about one year of Nora’s time.

As Chair of the Fundraising Committee I am offering contributors what no bank, bond, or mutual fund is giving: a 10% return on your investment. I pledge to match each $10 contribution with an additional $1; including all multiples of ten. If you donate $100 I will match it with $10. Yes, for every $1000 contributed to this translation (from any source), I will leave home where I am happily retired, and go out and do one day of substitute teaching so that I may contribute another $100 to this effort. I will be happy to do so every time we raise another $1000, because we will be $1000 closer to the goal of raising $30,000 to finish the Bridge-to-Bridge Project.

It is more difficult to do fund-raising aimed at many small donors than a few large ones, but it is more meaningful and more democratic when many people contribute. All donations, small and large, are deeply appreciated. Please find some time in 2009 to write at lest one check, even if only for a few dollars, to be part of a collaboration of reaching across oceans of geography, chasms of cultural variation, and micrometers of actual human differences to help the world find a unity of purpose.

Tax-deductible donations may be sent to: Cristina Hutchins, Treasurer of the GGC Society, 695 Daffodil Dr., Benicia, CA 94510-3825. On the check write this memo notation: “Translation Project.” At the end of 2009 (and 2010, if necessary) you will receive a receipt for your contributions for the year giving the GGC tax deductibility information.

With a collaborative heart,

Claudia Ayers
