Truthseekers Catalina Trip Needs Assistance

The Truthseekers need help by friends or parents. We need people to go to the Long Beach dock where the
boat leaves for Catalina every day to drop off provisions. This will be a two day (Wednesday & Thursday)
commitment. Supplies need to be sent via the ferry to Catalina. If you would like to help the Truthseekers,
please contact planners@ic08.org.

Nightly Entertainment schedule:

Wednesday night Robert Burns' Two Drink Minimum Band will play for us
Thursday night Common Ground will perform
Friday night is the worshipful Cosmic Celebration where all are encouraged to pray, worship and relax.
Saturday night the Masquerade ball will give us the gift of reversion!

CALLING ALL SPEAKERS!!!
(And Speaker wannabees...!)

The Urantia Book Speakers' Marathon will be held on Friday, July 4th, the "light" day.
Time: 9:00 to 12 and 1:30 to 4:00.      Room: to be announced
This is your chance to join with other speakers for a UBook "Speak-In."
Why attend?   This fun speakers' event will help you formulate your ideas, will provide you a helpful outline for future talks, and give you practical experience in speaking before an audience.
· Hone your speaking abilities among a group of friendly, supportive reader/believers
· Gain confidence in speaking before a group
· Receive helpful feedback in a nonjudgmental atmosphere
· Glean speaking tips and learn from experienced speakers
All of us, in our daily lives, have opportunities to speak our Truth. Untie your tongue, and become more comfortable speaking to others about the Revelation. Practice makes perfect!

Need a topic?
Not all speeches have to be UBook intros...in fact, talking about just one aspect of the Revelation might have an even stronger effect for a particular audience.
One valuable resource is on Truthbook.com: Spiritual Studies: Topics. You'll find a wealth of ideas there, with quotes that will fuel your imagination and your delivery!
Toastmasters are especially welcomed. And for matchless experience and education in speechcraft, visit Toastmasters.org - consider becoming a member between now and the conference! All you have to lose is your stage-fright!

Please join us for this enjoyable event. You'll be glad you did!

To apply, send a title of your talk, a brief talk description and length of time requested. Note that shorter, to the point talks will have the highest chances of being accepted due to time constraints.

Stephen Finlan, Ph.D. (aka Finnie) is the author of six books, including Options on Atonement in Christian Thought.  His books are highly regarded and quoted by major academic theologians.  Finnie will be presenting a workshop at IC08 called “Using the Bible in Conversation w/ Christians.”  His workshop will consist of discussion of three central questions:

1.   How is knowledge of the Bible useful to conversation with Christians?
2.   How does the UB build upon, expand, and correct the Bible, and why does that matter?
3.   What are some techniques for handling disagreements and disputes?

Finnie is a gifted author and teacher, and his depth of knowledge of both the Bible and The Urantia Book enriches our study group and Society meetings. You have a special opportunity to hear him speak at IC08!   Register now at www.urantiabook.org    (courtesy of Bobbie Dreier)
